What is a College Credit Card?

College credit cards are the credit cards that have been specially designed for college students. College credit cards are more popularly known as student credit cards. College credit cards allow the students to experience the benefits of credit cards much earlier in their life. Through college credit cards, the college students are able to learn more about credit cards and their use. In fact, for most of the students, their college credit card is their first credit card that acts as a gateway to the world of credit cards. Some other students might have previously used supplementary credit cards linked to their father’s credit card account; however, for such students too, their college credit card is the first one that is truly theirs.

College credit cards are not very different from other types of credit cards in the basic sense; they function in the same way as any credit card would. However, there are some differences, which basically arise from the fact that college credit cards are used by people who have no prior experience with credit cards and who perhaps don’t understand the concept of credit cards completely. Hence, the credit card supplier is at risk with issuing credit cards (college credit cards) to such people whom he is not sure about. Most of the students don’t have a credit history either. In such a case, the supplier of college credit card cannot be sure of receiving the credit card bill payments in time (and even receiving them at all). To counter such risks, the supplier of college credit card requires the parent of the student to co-sign the college credit card application form as a guarantee. Moreover, the credit limit on college credit cards is generally around $500-$1000 per month, which is lower than what it is for other credit cards (this credit limit is generally sufficient to fulfil the typical needs of a student). Another risk mitigation instrument used by the college credit card suppliers is the interest rate or APR. The APR on college credit cards is generally higher than that for other credit cards. Again, this is done to dissuade the students from overspending on their college credit card (and finally not being able to pay their credit card bills).

However, if we were to look at these impositions in a positive sense, we would find that these are actually in favour of the student (who is still getting trained to take on the real world of credit cards).  Moreover, college credit cards also help the students in establishing a (good) credit history which is another important benefit that becomes handy when the student needs any type of  loan at a later stage in his/her life.

So, college credit cards are really something that every student should consider going for.

Legal Movie Download Sites: Do They Exist?

Legal movie download sites seem very difficult if not impossible to find online, and I am not surprised that illegal downloads run at about 4 – 5 times the rate of legal downloads. Part of the reason for this is geographic limitation, whereby movie companies allow online sites to sell legal movies only to specific geographic areas, such as Movielink that is not available outside the USA. You can’t even join their affiliate program unless you live in the USA.

Vongo are the same, so why are they so surprised that the rest of the world purchase lifetime memberships to file sharing software services? The chances of being prosecuted are less than those of winning the USA and European lotteries both in the same year. Even if you do purchase legally the prices are way over the top, almost inviting people to break the law.

They are complaining at losing so much money that the actors are in penury, working for practically nothing. I think the millions they are given for just making the movie should be enough for one human being, without continuing to fleece us on royalties from sales of the videos. Why do videos cost so much when they cost only pennies to make?

However, let’s have a closer look at the morality of illegally downloading copyrighted movies. On the face of it, it is an offence to do so, and we all realize that. So what are the alternatives is we want a movie to play on our PSP or iPod? Where do we get them?

I have checked out Google and every site offering iPod movies is a file sharing P2P network site. It is legal as claimed, but only if used to download amateur movies rather than those that most people want to buy. Every single one, even those attached to article directory files from writers claiming to offer totally legal iPod movie downloads, were P2P sites.

So if we can’t get what we want legally, what do we do? Remember the Prohibition? We obviously get what we want illegally. Don’t get me wrong: file sharing is not illegal and it is not illegal to promote file sharing websites, but it is illegal to use them to download copyright protected movie files. However, as I said, your chances of being caught are almost zilch, and if the big movie companies can’t move into the 21st century, then they deserve to lose out. It might not be morally right, but they should provide the alternative rather than complaining.

Even legal PSP movie downloads seem impossible to get, even if you are willing to pay for them. Every site I found on page 1 of Google was a P2P site. If there are any real legal sites out there that are run by the movie companies, or by Sony, then they should be at #1 on Google for the most obvious keywords. They have the dough to pay for even the highest priced Adword keywords and to employ the SEO experts to get them to #1 for every keyword.

Nope. I have come to the conclusion that the movie companies spend more time complaining than trying to do something about it. At least you can purchase legal music downloads pretty easily these days, but movies? No chance! Stop complaining and acting like the little kids you prosecute. You are supposed to be the Big Boys of the movie world, yet you cry your eyes out about little high school kids beating you senseless with technology, when you can’t even make regular movie downloads available for we who are willing to pay for them.

Until that time, I will continue to offer peer-to-peer file sharing software to those that want to use it, and if they use it for illegal purposes that is their choice. I should warn them not to and do, but I certainly can’t blame them.

Until movie companies get off their big fat butts and get into this century I will provide people with the means to legally share movie files – nod, nod, wink, wink! My software isn’t illegal and it is free. Why should I give up my business of providing a means to legally download movies and music made by people that want to share it freely just because large corporations can’t get of their big fat asses and provide the public with what they want?

As soon as any legal download facilities become available than I will offer it, as I do the sites that allow you to legally download copyrighted music, such as the new Napster and other similar music sites. The problem is that there are few similar movie sites.

I am completely honest about the legality of downloads from P2P sites, and to extend that honesty, most of the p2p software on sale for a lifetime payment is free open source software that anybody can get completely free without paying anything. If you go for that, however, you don’t get the supercharged software that speeds up the downloads to a tolerable speed, you don’t get the support and you don’t get the extra software offered.

You make your own mind with open source software whether to use it as it is or to go for a better presentation, support and download speed. I made my mind up and know what I prefer, but then I download legal movies.

Home Schooling Advantages Vs. Disadvantages

Home schooling is an option that is becoming more attractive to parents as time goes on. Schools have become increasingly unstable over the past couple of decades. Children roam the hallways unchecked, textbooks are outdated, violence is prevalent, children are bullied mercilessly, and the quality of education on the whole has greatly diminished.

What options do parents have to combat this downward spiral? Initially, private school was thought to be the answer. As enrollment in private schools soared many parents failed to see a difference between public and private schools. The problems were still the same.

The option of home schooling has been around for a long time; however, until recently it had not been so popular. The idea of home schooling seems like a cure-all to many parents due to the advantages this type of education provides over traditional schools. Children who are home schooled can avoid many of the problems schools have become known for. For one, the environment is less threatening. Children can learn without fearing other students, aggressive or nasty teachers, and be under the constant supervision of parents. In addition, home schooling allows parents to dictate the academic course of their children. Home schooling also allows students to proceed at their own speed. If a child is weak at multiplication and division, a parent can focus lessons on those skills in favor of another skill that the child might grasp rather easily.

Home schooling is also advantageous because it keeps children away from other students that may be corruptive forces. There are many students in school who do not value learning. This is not any fault of the schools; however, it is still a painful reality. These students can lead to the destruction of a stable learning environment. Home schooling keeps children focused on learning and not on avoiding social pressures.

It may sound like the perfect option, but there are many disadvantages of home schooling. First of all, home schooled children are usually less socialized. While schools can sometimes be the breeding ground for poor social behaviors, school is also a place where students learn to interact with others and build social skills. It seems a bit like a catch 22.

In addition, another drawback to home schooling could be implementation of an educational plan. Many parents are not qualified as teachers and may not understand what is necessary to ensure a child has access to the proper curriculum.

Finally, another disadvantage to home schooling is the necessity for parents to take full responsibility for their child’s education. If you choose to home school your child there is no one for you to blame if your child does poorly. The responsibility falls completely on the parent.

There are many advantages and disadvantages to home schooling. Before you begin a home schooling plan make sure you have evaluated your ability to properly instruct your child and provide a quality learning experience. If you do not think you can handle it, you might as well send your child to school but become more involved with his or her education.

Choosing locations for student homes

Picking the right location for your rented student property will save you time, money, and future problems. At Househustler, we suggest you consider: • Distance and travelling: Do you own a car or bicycle, or rely on public transport ? Remember you will need to travel to and form shops, amenities and lectures. There will be trips home, and possibly journeys to part-time workplaces. Do you need nearby bus or rail terminals? What of Sunday and late-night transport services? Distances may be walkable, but are they safe at night? • Student areas: Student neighbourhoods have pros and cons. They will be convenient for getting to lectures. There will be student companionship and mutual support, and probably great social life. Student areas have thriving student pubs, plenty of fast-food outlets, and other agreeable shops. Student areas are not always ‘respectable’, which some students relish. Student neighbourhoods are often high crime areas, attracting burglars. Poor maintenance and housekeeping can cause dilapidated, unhygienic environments. Haphazard community involvement produces lower standard public works and services • Non-student areas: Rents may be cheaper here, and landlords more amenable with tenancy agreements. The safety factor, maintenance standards and general presentation should all be better. On the downside, your ‘respectable’ neighbours may not tolerate much noise and late partying. And you may be annoyed by suburban noises from schools or barking dogs. There will be fewer nearby food shops and pubs • Locality research: Ask other students, college staff, local police and community wardens, local media and taxi drivers about the area. There may be one dodgy street in an otherwise safe neighbourhood. Be alert for litter, fly-tipping, safety grills on doors and windows, boarded-up houses, and abandoned cars – warning signs of high crime levels. Is there a motorway, railway line or football ground nearby? If so, could you accept the noise and disruption, especially during exams? These considerations will help you choose student accommodation in the ideal locality.
