Charting New Career Courses with Online Colleges

Online colleges are changing the face of higher education and providing a cost-effective and convenient way for more people to achieve degrees and expand their career options. In recent years, online college degree programs have expanded to cover more types of degrees and specialty areas. In fact, nearly 200 different online universities and colleges offer online courses.

Online college courses run the gamut from accredited business, law, and nursing to accredited education, criminal justice, and healthcare degrees. Online graduate programs have also expanded to include MBA degrees and online graduate degrees in just about every subject, including nursing, law, technology, English and education. In addition, there are accredited trade programs and technical colleges that now provide online programs.

Students can complete online college degree programs and online graduate programs in as little as two years, depending on the specialty and type of degree. While traditional programs tend to take up a considerable chunk of a person’s life, colleges offering online degrees offer flexibility to work around a person’s full-time job or family time. Most of the online college courses allow students to complete their assignments and sit in on “lecture” on their timeframe.

Colleges offering online degrees include completely online schools, those with campuses, and some very well known larger schools that recognize the changing needs of today’s students, professionals and parents. An online college search does not have to be difficult. To find the right online college, do an online college search by using an online college directory like eLearners.com or through a search engine.

You might even consider searching through a specific college name that appeals to you and see what types of online college degree programs or blended degrees (online and traditional classroom learning) they offer. Also, consider doing an online college search by the type of degree, such as nursing, criminal justice, or MBA.

Applying to an online college is very easy. There are a few forms that can be filled out online and a limited amount of time to wait before finding out if you are accepted. From there, the process of selecting online college courses and beginning a semester is very simple, including four different start-times throughout the year instead of just a Fall or Spring opening. When you are ready, there is an online college waiting for you!

Factors to Consider When Home Schooling

There are a lot of reasons to choose to home school your kids. Maybe you don’t like the way your local schools are run. Perhaps you don’t like the curriculum used in the schools. Sometimes it’s the family bonds. Perhaps you don’t like public school and private school isn’t financially possible for you. Maybe you have your own educational ideas. Whatever the reason you might be thinking of homeschooling, it is important that you not overlook your curriculum choices. How do you choose your homeschooling curriculum? Read the remainder of this article for some popular options.

How about Charlotte Mason’s method? Charlotte mason was an important educator at the turn of the twentieth century. Her focus was on life, discipline and atmosphere. There are two main focuses, living books, and the homes atmosphere overall. Her methods were very strict (“discipline”) and centered on forming good study and academic habits while also making sure that the schooling subjects were easily approached through “living” examples instead of just dry facts. There are lots of places to buy Charlotte Mason’s curriculum (or new materials that embrace her curriculum approaches).

Your kids are still required to take the standardized tests sent out by the government and state even if you’re home schooling them. Brick and mortar schools set aside days every year for the students to take these tests. Your kids may need to take these tests in a “traditional classroom” so you will need to contact your local school board if you want to proctor them yourself at home. Some school systems even set aside certain days for home schooled kids to take the test together.

Your local school board will be your best resource in determining how to approach these yearly standardized tests.

There are several factors to consider when planning your home school approach and curriculum. Your child’s personal learning style is the first thing you need to consider. Your strengths and weaknesses as a teacher also need to be considered. The nice thing about home schooling is that you have more freedom to play up your strengths as you put together your curriculum. You will be able to play to everyone’s strengths, really, as you won’t be stuck with strict curriculum practices or units. it is a proven fact that home schooling is valuable to your kids. Most home schooled kids do better on tests as well as in college. Family bonds are stronger with home schooled kids. This is good news for those who’ve thought about home schooling but worried about it’s efficacy. Before you consider home schooling you need to research curricula so you know which one you will uses. Do some research and talk to other parents. A path for you to follow will be the result of your hard work!

Credit For Those In College

Credit card debt doesn’t shy away from anyone who doesn’t want to shy away from it.

It treats everyone equally irrespective of whether the person is a seasoned professional or just a college student. So college student credit card debt isn’t uncommon either.

Hector Milla Editor of the “Get Rid Of Credit Card Debt” website — http://www.GetRidOfCreditCardDebts.net — pointed out;

“…Since the credit limit on college student credit cards is much lower, the college student credit card debt cannot rise to the levels it does for other credit cards. However, college student credit card debt is an even bigger menace because a lot of students are already in debt due to the loan they have taken for their education. If they pass out of college with college student credit card debt, they will have to payback not just the loan they taken for studies but also their college student credit card debt.Since most of the college students are inexperienced in the usage of credit cards, they can easily fall prey to what we call as ‘college student credit card debt’…”

In fact, college student credit card debt is one reason why the credit card suppliers keep a lower credit limit on college student credit cards. The solution for avoiding college student credit card debt is similar to what it is for avoidance of any type of credit card debt. So, the first thing for avoiding college student credit card debt is to understand the concept that credit card is not free money and that whatever you pay-for using your credit card has to be paid back to the credit card supplier when your credit card bill arrives. So don’t treat credit card separate from hard cash.

Avoid overspending e.g. do not buy things just because they are on sale, sales keep coming and going and there are always better offers each time; buy only those things that you really need. A good thing to do is to prepare your monthly budget and follow it religiously. Never budge from your budget. Another very important preventive measure for avoiding college student credit card debt is to avoid going for a second credit card. Some students have a tendency to go for multiple credit cards just because the credit limit on college student credit cards is very low. However, this is a perfect recipe for getting into a college student credit card debt. This is how college student credit card debt builds up. One credit card is more than enough for any student.

“…College student credit card is really meant to be treated like a training ground for learning more about credit cards. It should not be make an instrument of debt (college student credit card debt)…” added H. Milla.

Are Online Colleges Right for You?

So, you’ve been thinking about advancing your education so that you can gain that extra earning power that college graduates enjoy.  It is well known that college graduates have a lower risk of unemployment, enjoy better job quality, are more likely to be in high-level positions and have much greater promotion prospects because of their advanced level of education.  Perhaps you already have your bachelors and want to get your masters so that you are ready for greater opportunities that come your way.  No matter what degree level you want to pursue, you can do it all from the comfort of your home through online degree programs offered by online colleges.

If you are considering studying for an online college degree, then you are not alone.  Online colleges and universities are becoming very popular as more and more people are realizing the benefits of online learning.  Pursuing a college degree online is an advantageous way to study as you can learn at your own pace and on your own time. But even with all the advantages of pursing an online college degree, is an online college right for you?

Pursuing an online college degree is not for everyone.  You need to have the right characteristics to study for an online college degree.  Some of the characteristics needed when pursuing an online college degree are:

Self-motivation & Self-discipline

Ability to prioritize

Ability to set your own goals

Good reading comprehension

Self-Motivation & Self-Discipline

You need to be highly self-motivated and self-disciplined and thus, be able to work without supervision.  Since you don’t have a set class times at online colleges, it will be up to you to set your own studying times.  It will help if you plan out your day and carve the same specific time each day to study.  Self-discipline is required so you resist the urge of other distractions in your home such as doing the laundry, washing the dishes or watching TV.  Self-discipline will also help you stick to your deadlines.

Ability to Prioritize

If you are choosing to pursue an online college degree, then it is probably because you have many other commitments to juggle such as work and family.  Once you have made the commitment to attend an online college, then you must keep in mind that your education is just as an important of a commitment.  With that mentioned, you should possess the ability to prioritize your schedule.

Just because online college degree programs are flexible, this does not mean the courses are easy, nor does it mean you can procrastinate class assignments and projects.  With the many other commitments you have, it is important to prioritize your schedule, set deadlines, and as mentioned above, stick to the deadlines you set.

Ability to Set Your Own Goals

As with getting a degree through a traditional campus college, it is easy to fall off track without clear goals.  Thus it is important to set both short-term and long-term goals when you pursue an online college degree.  Some online colleges allow you to get a degree at your own pace and your pace will determine whether you get your online college degree in two years or ten years.  When you pursue an online college degree you should set reasonable short-term goals such as taking 6-8 units (or as much as you can take) per quarter or semester.  These short-term goals will help you reach your long-term goal with ease and will show the progress you are making towards achieving your long-term goal.

Good Reading Comprehension

A good level of reading comprehension is needed as online colleges teach primarily through written material written at college level.  While you may have interaction with your classmates and/or instructor, the interaction will be done primarily through e-mail, chat rooms, and message boards.

If you find it difficult to attend college courses on campus, attending an online college is a great way to earn your degree.  With online colleges and universities, you now have the opportunity to advance your education without having to push aside previous commitments.  Just keep these characteristics in mind and you can be successful in advancing your education by earning your college degree online.

Post Surgery Pain

It has been 3 weeks since my last childbirth delivery surgery. Up until now I am still in very much pain. I do not have any bleeding anymore but I seem not to be able to walk or even sit comfortably. Maybe I should have more patients. I am in constant pain in the lower abdominal area. I already checked my condition to the hospital again about a week ago but they said not to be worry and that it is normal. The doctor only gives me a prescription of pain reliever. I got medicine called as tramodol and I almost use all of it this week. I need to buy tramodol again as soon as possible.

It seems there is no single day I spent without the medicines. Without it I can feel so much pain. Now my doctor is currently away. I need to go to him to get the new prescription of the medicines as soon as possible. I also need to check my current condition to him also. It is doesn’t seem normal that the pain did not go away for after some time. The pain really bothers me a lot. I can’t do my own activities normally. I must be assisted by my husband and the worse thing is I can’t take care of the baby like a normal mother. For now to ease my pain i need to buy tramodol soon.

I already told my problem to my husband and he understands about it. He feel really worry and suggest me to go see another doctor while waiting for the regular doctor to come home. He said he will buy me tramodol via online instead since we do not have new doctor prescription. We can get it online without any prescription needed since it is an emergency. We will go to the new doctor anyway. I am sure the new doctor will be able to advice me on what next step to take after he do througout check up with my physical health. I just want the pain to go away and to be over with. I want to do my regular activities and be joyful in my first time of motherhood as well.
